This is a portrait of Sandy. It's one of the first encaustic portraits I painted. I met Sandy in front of the post office in the town my sister, Joy, lives in. He had a face so full of character that I asked if I could photograph him and paint his portrait. He used to be a miner in BC among other things and experience carved his features. I sent him a print of his portrait addressed to only Sandy at his home town. In a little place like Hedley everyone knows one another so I knew he would get it. He died this week and his funeral will be this weekend.
